A poorly arranged office move can hit a business hard on many fronts.
If the right considerations are not made, it could affect employee morale and productivity, or cause the business significant downtime from not having important services in place. Ultimately it could cost the business a lot of money.
One way of reducing the impact of all these concerns when moving office phone systems is to plan in plenty of time to ensure the new office can be up and running almost immediately. It is vital to understand how much time you should allow when ordering your services around a planned move date. There is nothing worse than having to push back your move date at the last minute because your telephone lines or Internet services at the new site are not live yet.
This can easily happen if you leave it too late, and it is not uncommon for expected installation dates to run past their normal suggested lead times for telephone lines, particularly if an unexpected problem appears, such as additional equipment needed in the local exchange, or additional cabling to your new site.
As a general rule, we recommend considering your options for telephone lines and Internet connectivity at your new site at least 8 weeks before your planned move date. This way all the associated checks can be made in good time, it allows you to examine all of your choices and costs, and it lets you make decisions on which services to order and manage in a timely way. This will make it easier in handling all the required surveys well in advance, and allow you to align the delivery dates with your move. This is a lot better than trying to chase services into your new site last minute to make sure you can still move.
